Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee announced today (October 28^th) the judging panel of the  61^st Golden Horse Awards will be chaired by renowned filmmaker Patrick TAM. TAM noted that he has witnessed the efforts of Golden Horse Awards in praising the excellence of Sinophonic films, enhancing the significance of cinematic arts and encouraging filmmakers. He also mentioned his wishes to be inspired by the nominated films and expected the vibrant communication with fellow jurors.

TAM is a key figure of the Hong Kong New Wave, with his distinctive film style. In addition to directing and scriptwriting, he also engaged in film editing and production design. His film works The Sword, Love Massacre and Nomad are representative classics of the Hong Kong New Wave. He was nominated Best Director of Golden Horse Awards for Love Massacre and won two Golden Horse Awards of Best Film Editing for Days of Being Wild and Ashes of Time. In 2006, his After This Our Exile won three Golden Horse Awards including Best Narrative Feature, and went on winning Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay. TAM’s latest work is Cannes selectee Septet: The Story of Hong Kong (segment: Tender is the Night).

Submissions to the Golden Horse Awards push to new heights this year. For the Preliminary Stage, submitted films are reviewed in four divisions: Narrative Feature, Live Action Short Film, Documentary and Animation. Jurors for Narrative Feature are Cecilia WONG Lai-ming, KUO Ming-jung, Nicole TEOH, Phil TANG, CHIN Chia-hua and LUA Kok-rui; jurors for Live Action Short Film are Nick CHEUK, Gavin LIN, YAO Chun-yao, YIN Chen-hao, Kevin CHANG, Henri CHANG, ZHAN Jie, Teresa KWONG and SU Pei-yi; jurors for Documentary are WANG Chun-chi, LEE Li-shao, HO Chao-ti, Eric POON and TSAI Tsung-lung; jurors for Animation are CHI Po-chou, TANG Zhi-zhong and Step C.

The eleven jurors of shortlist stage who selected the nominees are: HSIEH Ying-xuan, Giddens KO, LIN Chun-yang, Toe YUEN, LIEN Yi-chi, CHEN Ta-pu, HUANG Mei-ching, WONG Hin-yan, SOO Mun-thye, plus HO Chao-ti and Nicole TEOH who joined from the preliminary stage.

On November  23^rd, the day of the awarding ceremony, the final stage meeting will be hosted by chair of the jury Patrick TAM. The eleven jurors finalizing the nomination list will be joined by SHEU Fang-yi, CinCin LEE, Singing CHEN, HSIAO Ya-chuan and LO Chi-leung. This jury of seventeen members will discuss and vote for the winners of this year’s Golden Horse Awards.
