SARStorm Swept the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion And Won Grand Prize

The 2020 Golden Horse Film Project Promotion (FPP) has drawn to a perfect conclusion at Taipei New Horizon with SARStorm declared the winner of the TWD 1,000,000 Grand Prize. The project is helmed by Golden Bell Awards-winning director LIN Chun-yang with Detention producer Aileen LI. The final-stage jury comprising Eric SHIH Wei-ming, Jeffrey CHAN and CHEN Yu-hsun praised the winning project’s creative ambition to confront current issues head-on through a genre film structure, as well as the well-rounded production team at its core. Wandering between realism and drama, the narrative offers a macro perspective but also explores various aspects of human nature, making it a highly anticipated film, the jury said. Golden Horse Awards-winning actress LEE Sin-je’s producing debut ABang ADik, featuring producer-turned-director Jin ONG, also grabbed two awards.
This year’s Golden Horse FPP from November 16 to 18 featured three compact days of activities and facilitated 992 meetings between financiers from around the world and representatives of the 40 selected projects across the FPP, WIP (Work In Progress), and the newly added Series sections. Regardless of subject matter, genre or visual style, all of this year’s projects showcased their creators’ care for universal values and their unrestrained creativity, not only earning high praise from conference participants but also raising expectations for the future of the Chinese-language film market.
