Notice: Cancellation of the 2020 Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival
To all our beloved friends and cinephiles,
We deeply regret to announce that the 2020 Golden Horse Fantastic Film Festival (GHFFF), originally scheduled in April, is officially cancelled.
Since this January, Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival Executive Committee (The Committee) has continuously discussed and made adjustments to our events in accordance with the spread of COVID-19, in order to offer a joyful and wonderful experience for thought in the utmost safety, even if the seating must be reduced to half or less. The measures include regular body temperature monitoring, alcohol sanitizer supply, strict separate seating and sanitization before-and-after screening, etc. Other approaches also include entrance by real-name registration, cancellation of Sing-Along, and changing the signature The Rocky Horror Picture Show to non-interactive screening.
However, within these inevitable adjustments, we notice that we might not fulfill the most precious quality of this fantastic film festival, while the spread of COVID-19 overseas also largely affects the communication and logistics of the films to be screened. In order to maintain the unique movie experience and distinctive feature of the events, as well as to ensure the health and wellbeing of the audience and the staff, we, therefore, have decided to cancel this year’s GHFFF. We move on to prepare for the Golden Horse Classic Film Festival and the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival scheduled for the latter half of the year. The follow up adjustments of GHFFF include:
1. The screening events collaborated with Taichung City Government will be postponed until next year.
2. Part of the contents of GHFFF will be moved to the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival in November or next year’s GHFFF.
3. This edition’s highly anticipated GHFFF souvenirs will be available for purchase through other channels.
The Committee would like to express our deepest appreciation for all the participating filmmakers and partners for their understanding, and also thank the audience for their continuing support. We will keep working for the next festival in the midst of the COVID-19. Keep safe and sound, the show will go on.
