林文錦，1933 年生於台中，為中影公司前身農教電影公司培養的台灣第一代電影技術人才。1950 年起擔任農教練習生，從錄音及攝影助理開始歷練，在台語片熱潮中抓住機會成為中影公司攝影師，職涯早期歷經台語片、反共電影、健康寫實，再到風靡全台的瓊瑤電影、愛國鉅片等等，曾與李嘉、張曾澤、丁善璽、陳耀圻、劉立立、蔡揚名、朱延平等知名導演合作。1967 年以《我女若蘭》獲得第五屆金馬獎最佳彩色攝影，中影的《英烈千秋》、《八百壯士》、《辛亥雙十》等戰爭鉅作均由他掌鏡。生涯參與近兩百部電影，攝影作品約八十餘部，亦曾擔任導演，以及中影公司影視組及技術組組長、研究員等行政職務。2020 年出版〈掌鏡人生：一個田庄囝仔的夢〉，為五○至八○年代的台灣電影發展史寫下見證。

Lin Wen-chin, a trailblazer in Taiwanese cinema, began his career at C.M.P.C. Studios and shaped the industry through Taiwanese-language cinema and the Healthy Realism movement. He won Best Colour Cinematography at the 5th Golden Horse Awards for Orchids and My Love. With a career spanning nearly five decades and over 200 films, he elevated Taiwanese cinematography to new heights.
