One of the most unforgettable experiences during the shoot was orchestrating the arrival and departure of the traders, which required over 800 yaks and herders. The village we were filming in didn't have enough yaks, so we had to gather them from seven surrounding villages. The locals had to go into the mountains, round up their herds, and bring them to the set. The first shooting day was chaotic. In some incredible twist of events, a crew person somehow found their way into the frame, and we were not quite ready for this immense extent of the scene. Some time was spent in nailing it down, literally rearranging the whole night. We mapped out the positions of every crew member, dressing some of them like background actors to guide the extras and animals.
I was literally multitasking with every second as I watched this frame, having my walkie-talkie in one hand and my phone in the other. At one point, I even resorted to throwing stones so I could get people's attention from a distance. The true scale of the scene, including the number of different groups involved in pulling it off, was a truly unforgettable and humbling sight-one that showed my amazing team in all their glory.
